Living Dangerously!

"The secret of reaping the
greatest enjoyment from life
is to live dangerously!"
Friedrich Nietzsch

Well I sure feel like I am living life dangerously! Wednesday June 11th I had my left drain finally removed. It lived in my body and did it job for 16 days! My plastic surgeon took it out. She noticed that I have developed cords in my left armpit. I didn't have them the week prior. Hmm, how did that happen? I keep thinking I did something wrong like miss some exercises or something. A friend said that 83% of patients get them. This actually made me feel better. It is really called "Axillary Web Syndrome".
Axillary Web Syndrome is described as "a visible web of axillary skin overlying palpable cords of tissue that are made taut and painful by shoulder abduction. The web is always present in the axilla and extends into the medial ipsilateral arm, frequently down to the antecubital space and occasionally to the base of the thumb." I know you greatly appreciated this information. You are very welcome. Now what does it mean? Well, basically imobility and pain. Physio starts next week. I hope the therapist can help me with these cords.
My plastic surgeon received a letter from my radiation oncologist to NOT cease and desist from adding more saline into my tissue expanders. My surgeon put in 200cc of saline into the expanders during my surgery on May 26th. I had mounds when I came too; boy like.
In the office, after discussing the concerns the oncologist has about my mounds being too large, the surgeon decided to add 100 cc more! I now have A cup mounds. If these bumps are too large for the radiation oncologist we will suck out some saline.
I am living life dangerously!
